The Kokoda Youth Foundation (KYF) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to changing the lives of Australian young people through the Spirit of Kokoda; Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. KYF upholds the legacy of the Kokoda soldiers in everything it does, ensuring their values are passed down to future generations.
KYF operates in three key areas: Youth Programs, the Kokoda Challenge, and Outdoor Education. The Kokoda Challenge, Australia’s toughest endurance event, mirrors the determination and resilience of the soldiers who fought on the Kokoda Track in WWII. Teams take on gruelling distances through harsh terrain, raising funds for KYF’s youth programs. Our youth programs -Kokoda Challenge Youth Program (KCYP), On the Right Track (OTRT) and the Digital Detox Program (DDP) help young people build leadership skills, self-discipline, and resilience, instilling the same spirit of perseverance displayed by the Kokoda veterans.
KYF also operates Kokoda Outdoor Education, comprising of two outdoor education facilities – Camp Kokoda and Kokoda Park –which offer immersive programs for schools and community groups. These experiences challenge participants physically and mentally, fostering teamwork and problem-solving while reinforcing the Kokoda values.
KYF keeps the spirit of Kokoda alive by shaping the next generation of resilient, community-minded leaders.
